Nutrient Management

Three vital nutrients are necessary for agricultural production to produce and maintain plant life.  Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P), and Potassium (K).  These three nutrients, either from chemical or organic sources, determine the quality and quantity of grasses, vegetables, meats, dairy products, and grains grown in production.  When not well managed, production and agronomic viability can suffer along with affecting soil and water quality not only on the farm but regionally.  It is the responsibility of the Conservation District to review Act 38 Nutrient Management Plans that have been written by Pa Department of Agriculture certified Plan Writers.
